hreflang tags link equivalent pages in different languages or regions so search engines can serve the right one. Codes are an ISO 639-1 language such as en or fr, optionally followed by an ISO 3166-1 region such as en-GB. Every version must list all the others and itself, otherwise the annotations are ignored.
x-default marks the page to show when no language matches.
