How to use ROI Calculator
- Enter the amount invested.
- Enter the final value (or revenue generated).
- Optionally enter the years held to see the annualized return.
About this tool
ROI is (final value - cost) / cost x 100. It works for investments and for marketing campaigns, where the final value is the revenue attributed to the spend. Annualized return converts the total gain into an equivalent yearly rate so investments held for different times can be compared.
ROI ignores risk and the time value of money unless you use the annualized figure.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a good ROI?
- It depends on the industry and risk. Stock market averages are often quoted around 7 to 10% per year, while marketing ROI targets vary widely.
- Is ROAS the same as ROI?
- No. ROAS is revenue divided by ad spend, while ROI subtracts the cost first.
