How to use URL Encoder and Decoder
- Choose encode or decode, and component or full URL.
- Paste your text.
- Copy the result.
About this tool
Component mode encodes every reserved character, which is what you need for a single query parameter value such as a UTM campaign name. Full URL mode leaves characters like : / ? & = # intact so a whole address stays valid.
Spaces become %20, and non-English characters are encoded as UTF-8 bytes.
Frequently Asked Questions
- When should I encode UTM values?
- If a value contains spaces, ampersands or non-English letters. Simple lowercase values with underscores need no encoding.
- What is the difference between %20 and +?
- Both can represent a space in query strings. %20 works everywhere, while + only works in form-encoded data.
